In the rolling hills of Sonoma’s Carneros region, where the elegance of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay graces the palate, a new form of art emerges, transcending the conventional boundaries between sound, sculpture, and nature. The Donum Estate, renowned for its harmonious blend of wine and art, proudly presents “HYPERSPACE”—a groundbreaking sound sculpture complex by the multifaceted artist Yang Bao.

Yang Bao, an acclaimed installation artist, pianist, and composer, has long captivated audiences with his unique approach to sound sculpture. Known for his concept of “Infinity Music,” Bao’s works transform landscapes into dynamic, ever-evolving soundscapes that intertwine with their surroundings. His creations, like living organisms, breathe and change, reflecting the intricate dance of natural elements. In “HYPERSPACE”, Bao’s vision reaches new heights. The installation at The Donum Estate is a testament to his ability to merge sensory experiences, offering visitors an immersive journey that redefines the interaction between art and environment. Bao’s previous works, such as “Hyperdrive” and “Soundmass,” have garnered international acclaim, positioning him as a leading figure in contemporary art.

“HYPERSPACE” is more than an installation; it is an experiential masterpiece. Central to this sound sculpture complex is a stunning golden pyramid, crafted from 24k gold-coated stainless steel. This architectural marvel houses a futuristic space organ comprised of nine mirror-finish stainless steel sculptures. These sculptures emit ethereal melodies that resonate across the vineyards, creating a spatial symphony that evolves with the natural elements. Surrounding the golden pyramid are additional sculptures, strategically placed to interact with the environment. As the wind, temperature, and humidity change, so does the music, offering a unique auditory experience with each visit. The number nine, symbolizing infinity and eternity, is a recurring motif, underscoring the installation’s connection to ancient cultural symbolism and its timeless appeal.
