The recent Passifolia collection of tableware by Hermès is a collaboration with French ceramic artist Nathalie Rolland-Huckel— each piece adorned with lush tropical foliage, seed pods bursting open, and vibrant flowers in full bloom. The collection comprises 30 pieces, ranging from large presentation platters with enchanting forest scenes to delicate teacups where the detailed artwork flows over the edge from exterior surface to interior, a detail that made the multi-step chromolithography process even more demanding. It took more than 2,000 hours for the artisans of three workshops to apply each petal, leaf, and stem onto the white porcelain which is produced in Limoges, France. The result? A magical collection of collectible tableware that blurs the line between botanical illustration and pure whimsy.
