Perched on the contours of Brentwood’s scenic hills, the Getty View Residence is a masterful blend of modern design and Southern California’s quintessential indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Spanning 14,452 square feet, this architectural gem by IR Architects seamlessly integrates luxury with the natural beauty of its surroundings. Designed to capture breathtaking views of the Los Angeles skyline, Santa Monica Bay, and the Getty Center, the residence redefines opulence with its thoughtful design and sensory richness.

From the moment one approaches the slender, meticulously crafted 1.27-acre site, the home begins its story. An entry courtyard adorned with a tranquil water feature and a verdant living wall beckons visitors to step through the oversized pivoting glass door. Inside, the double-height great room immediately delivers its pièce de résistance: a panoramic spectacle framed by a 65-foot-wide glass wall that retracts entirely, erasing the boundary between the interior and the infinity pool terrace beyond.

The interiors unfold like a gallery, where each space carries its own narrative. Light wood floors and sculptural chandeliers create a warm yet modern ambiance. The travertine-clad fireplace in the great room echoes the iconic façade of the Getty Center, its striations running horizontally to mimic the grandeur of a singular stone slab. At the base of the floating glass staircase, a stately olive tree planted in a bed of light stones serves as a serene anchor, softening the transition between public and private realms.

Every corner of the house invites tactile and visual exploration. The chef’s kitchen features a dual island system in white-and-gray marble, paired with sleek black appliances. Adjacent, a butler’s kitchen and home gym complete the functional yet sophisticated layout. The sunken media room, accented with white-upholstered seating and a temperature-controlled wine display, creates a cozy retreat, while the upstairs game room and primary suite redefine relaxation with panoramic views and luxe
finishes.

The outdoor spaces rival the interiors in their grandeur. The infinity pool, blending seamlessly with the limestone patio, becomes an extension of the living room when the glass wall retracts. A pergola-shaded outdoor kitchen with marble countertops and a dining area for ten transforms the terrace into an entertainer’s paradise. Nearby, a fire pit and lush landscaping enhance the sensory immersion, with ocean breezes and sunlight playing against the architectural lines.

The Getty View Residence transcends traditional architecture, standing as a harmonious blend of innovative design and the natural world. With every element—be it the travertine accents, the olive tree at its core, or the whispering water features—IR Architects has crafted a space that harmonizes with its environment while exuding understated luxury. This is modern living reimagined, where every glance and touch offers a reminder of the beauty and refinement inherent in thoughtful design.
