Renowned for his bold lines, energetic characters, and electrifying color palettes, Atlanta-based artist Greg Mike has once again captured the art world’s attention with his latest solo exhibition, Chapter New. After a decade-long break from solo shows, this exhibit marks a significant milestone in his career, held at the newly expanded ABV Gallery in East Atlanta Village. The new space, over six times larger than the original, symbolizes growth and transformation, paralleling Greg Mike’s own artistic journey.
The exhibition features an array of works that showcase his evolution over the past 15 years. From his signature characters that burst with energy to newly explored mediums like large-scale sculptures and digital art, Chapter New reflects both innovation and continuity. Sculptures made from materials like fiberglass and metal bring his characters into a three-dimensional realm, offering viewers a tangible and immersive experience.
When asked about returning to solo exhibitions after a decade, Greg Mike shared, “Solo exhibitions allow for a deeper dive into my creative process and a more personal connection with the audience. ‘Chapter New’ represents a culmination of experimentation and growth through the years”. The title itself, Chapter New, embodies this theme of evolution. As Mike explained, “It’s a balance between the familiar and the unknown, a continuation of my story, with a twist.”
Mike’s work has always promoted positivity and self-expression, and Chapter New stays true to that ethos. From vibrant paintings to vinyl figures and wearable art, this exhibition invites viewers to engage with his work on multiple levels. Reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of creating this exhibition and transforming the gallery, Mike said, “Seeing the gallery come together, piece by piece, and watching the new works take shape in that space felt incredibly rewarding. It’s been a journey of growth and perseverance.”
